Friends of Buckingham extends a warm and grateful thank you to Reverend Barber, Al Gore and Karenna Gore for accepting our ernest and urgent invitation to come to Union HIll, to draw and amplify ever widening attention to the injustices forced on the Union Hill Community and the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. Their stellar afternoon visit to the Union Hill neighborhood lifted us up and affirmed the work we have done for 4 1/2 years now to oppose this toxic, dangerous, unnecessary, unneeded, economic drain of an imposed pipeline. The evening program at the Buckingham Middle School was a huge success, with a very enthusiastic and receptive crowd. None of this could’ve happened with out our extensive allies and friends, forging the frontline work. Irene Leech, third generation resident, said this is the largest event Buckingham has seen. Some estimates said over 1100 attended.

For reviews and recordings of the event, please scroll through the extensive collection that Cat McCue of Appalachian Voices gathered for us. And you can read her blog here.
