The Violation Vigil is a collaborative art project that gives poignant, visual and aural representation to the hundreds of water violations at the hands of Mountain Valley Pipeline. It is an invitation to stand in solidarity with the communities facing the MVP, and is a response to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality’s continued abdication of responsibility.
As the DEQ and State Water Control Board review the new permit application for stream and wetlands crossings for Giles, Montgomery, Franklin, Craig, Roanoke and Pittsylvania Counties, this project is meant to spotlight the continued destruction to Virginia waterways from the ruinous fracked-gas Mountain Valley Pipeline.

We are thrilled to announce that the keynote speaker for December 11th’s Violation Vigil #NoMVP convergence in Richmond, VA will be Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival and Repairers of the Breach!
Rev. Dr. Barber has been leading the charge for economic, environmental, and social justice and coalition building for years, organizing and championing the call for moral revival continuing from the first Poor People’s Campaign of 1968.
Clean water is an economic justice issue. And it’s certainly an environmental and social justice issue. It’s everyone’s issue – which is why we need to STOP the dangerous, destructive, polluting, scandalous, and straight up CRIMINAL Mountain Valley Pipeline.
To join Rev. Dr. Barber, the amazing lineup of speakers and musicians listed below, the broad and deep coalition of groups fighting fracked gas pipelines, as well as hundreds of others advocating for clean water in so-called Virginia and the region, register here and stand with us on December 11th!
