A group of 18 major businesses, including big names such as Walmart, Best Buy, Ikea, Staples and Mars, Inc., have sent a letter sent to state lawmakers and the Virginia State Corporation Commission calling for “an explicit legal framework” to expand access to renewable energy from utilities and third-party sellers.The commission will begin a hearing today on Appalachian Power’s request for rider, or fee, for customers
