Acclaimed environmental activist Lois Gibbs to encourage pipeline opponents

Lois Gibbs Forced the government to clean up toxic wastes.

Ms. Gibbs will speak on Monday, 10:30 AM April 17, 2017 at Union Grove Baptist Church on Shelton Store Road, Buckingham, VA.

 

Driven in 1978 to protect her son, her daughter and other mysteriously ill children in the neighborhood of Love Canal, Lois Gibbs conquered shyness to become a formidable force for the environment and environmental justice.

The founder of the Center for Health, Environment and Justice will visit Franklin County, Salem and Roanoke County next week to talk with opponents of the Mountain Valley Pipeline about her message of grassroots empowerment.

Gibbs’ radical transition from “homemaker to hell-raiser,” as described by Public Integrity, occurred after she determined that she and other residents of Love Canal, a community in Niagara County, New York, were being poisoned by toxic industrial wastes.
