Wednesday July 13, 7 pm.
Union Hill Baptist Church, 1496 Union Hill Road, (Rt. 663),
Buckingham 23921.
Come to join with friends and neighbors to meet and greet fellow landowners and concerned citizens. Learn how ordinary folks worked together to stop the Keystone XL Pipeline. And, what we can do about the ACP!
Together we will plan a door-to-door reach out to all landowners who will be most impacted by the ACP, talk about the latest news, and take down family land histories.
Dominion just filed for the air permit for the compressor station in Buckingham, so we need to join together to act fast and get the word out now. If you don’t agree with corporate seizures of private land by eminent domain, and with forced exposures to air, water, land, and noise pollution in our community, join us!
All are welcome who care about preserving Buckingham’s health, and historic, rural, and existing land values and uses. Refreshments will be served.
Friends of Buckingham received a small grassroots organizing grant from Center for Health, Environment and Justice (CHEJ)
Our grant has two main objectives: Outreach to local landowners and neighborhoods and outreach to national media about Buckingham County’s unique threats from the only proposed Virginia ACP compressor station.
Action 1: To identify landowners in Buckingham County most highly impacted by the proposed ACP — those who live next to the compressor station and its 2+ mile radius, and all landowners whose land ACP proposes to cross in the county.
Action 2: To engage in a door-to-door effort to meet those landowners. For contact information and also cultural resource surveying, we will learn their family land histories on this site and nearby. Some landowners will be videotaped telling family land stories.
Action 3: We will hold open public gatherings to discuss landowner and all public concerns about the ACP development in our county.
For extended background information about the uniqueness of Buckingham County’s difficulties in opposing the insult of the ACP, please read the post on this site: Background on Buckingham County for the Significance of FoB Proposal to CHEJ.
