EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Road repairs are still necessary in East Providence, after a water main break caused widespread issues throughout the city.

The break took place around 3 p.m. on Almeida Avenue, off Waterman Avenue, causing widespread water pressure issues.

The nearby Rhode Island Philharmonic School has closed as a result.

Several businesses along the street were without water for much of the day.

A truck driving through the area got stuck in a sinkhole that opened up. The driver was not hurt and crews have since removed the truck from the hole.

On Monday, the highway department will begin ripping up and replacing the road.
