I just signed a petition to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Secretary Kimberly Bose: We demand a single, comprehensive, regional review of the impacts of all four fracked gas pipelines proposed for the Blue Ridge and Appalachian regions of Virginia and West Virginia: the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, the Mountain Valley Pipeline, the Appalachian Connector, and the WB Xpress project. The only way to understand the true cost of these projects — to our climate, our health, our safety, or our land and unique natural resources — is to evaluate them together. Anything short of a single regional review, or Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement, would shirk FERC’s duty under the law and endanger the safety of our communities and climate.

Dominion has not done near enough studies into the methane effects to the region, the inherent risk, even if small, of the damage a minor earthquake could do to the pipeline and the environmental effects that could follow. This area has had recent quakes on its faultline.
The speed at which Dominion is attempting to push the approval of the pipeline through is unprecedented and Gov. McCauliffe, Sen Warner and others will have to live with the pipeline as their legacy when in 10/20 years the detrimental effects are truly discovered and teased out. SLOW DOWN THE PROCESS!!
Take your time…..act like this pipeline is in fact in YOUR backyard and not in the backyards of the poorest (& thus most disenfranchised) citizens of our commonwealth. Thank you.
